The reception for the 100th anniversary of Estonia

On 27 February, a reception for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia was held in the hotel "Hilton" in Ankara.

From the Turkish Government, Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek welcomed Estonia. "Estonia is a very strong partner and a true friend for Turkey," said Şimşek in a speech and affirmed that Turkey continues to support Estonia's journey towards the development of its country.  The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the rapid development of economic relations between Estonia and Turkey and the memorandum on the establishment of JETCO (Joint Economic and Trade Committee) will be signed in Tallinn at the end of March.

Ambassador Marin Mõttus emphasized that Turkey has supported Estonia through good times and bad times, and today the political contacts between the two countries are tight and economic and cultural relations are impressive.

At the reception the guests could have look at the exhibition "Estonia and Turkey: so far and still close", ​​which presented the relations between the two countries in the last century. Deputy Prime Minister Şimşek and Ambassador Marin Mõttus acknowledged that in the history of Estonia and Turkey, there is more common points that we could think at  first glance. The exhibition can be viewed in several different cities of Turkey during the year.
